Chapter one

First and Second

One day a handsome fox was prowling around in the enchanted, spooky and sinister woods looking for some food. A bird flew over his head, this sent a shiver up his nose and he licked his sly lips. He trotted rapidly to some soft fungus on the edge of a gigantic oak tree and started to nibble. When he had finished he rested on a pile of beach nuts to let his tummy settle. On the oak tree beside the fox there was a beef stake mushroom. For this fox it looked like chocolate, so he stood up to have some dessert.

The fox took one bite of the mushroom. Inside there was a load of pink flesh. Another shiver went up his sensitive nose but this time it was close he started to chuckle to himself. Down in the comfortable dyeing Star moss sat a bunch of YUMMY rabbits and for once again he licked his sly lips and got ready to pounce! Suddenly a slippery, slimy worm wriggled over his paw. The fox yelped and the worm flew into the air and it got devoured by swooping birds. The rabbits were terrified and hopped madly towards its burrow.

The worm was wrinkly and wet, squishy and slow, and was at least 20-25cm long. The fox hadn't noticed that the worm had left a slime ball on his paw.

Chapter two

Nearly there

The fox found himself near a tree strangled in ivy; the beast was so peckish that he could eat a whole family of rabbits. The hungry vermin trotted to see if there was any more smells wafted up his nose in the howling wind.

The fox carried on walking, weaving in and out of the trees. All of a sudden he stopped and sniffed the air; he could smell rabbit. He started to run until the whole forest smelt of the mangy rodent. The fox's tongue was covered in saliva; he followed his nose to where the rabbit could be.

The fox's eyes wept in sorrow as his tummy rumbled like a volcano, which was about to explode. The beast stood on some rotting wood what he thought had been eaten by a nasty creature. He plodded on and heard a small snap of a stick. He peered round but he could see nothing so he sniffed the air and carried on walking...

Chapter four

Strangled in Ivy

The next morning the horrid fox strolled past a large holly tree with a massive hole in it. In an instant some large bunny ears popped out of the twisted oak. The fox was startled and jumped back into the green thick grass. He recognized the ears and stepped forward opening his large jaws.

The bunny leaped out of the bush and stared into the foxes hungry eyes. The bunny thumped his foot. All the bunnies in the wood hopped out of the bush, the fox licked his lips and howled. The bunnies took one big leap and the fox manically ran away.
He barked. "I'm sorry I will never bother you again."

Chapter five

Hungry

Next morning, Fox woke up feeling hungry. Just then he remembered the rabbit, seconds later he appeared at the holly bush and the fox started scanning the horizon for rabbits.

Suddenly his eyes fixed on a pair of bunny ears.
“Aha, now I've got you,” he whispered to himself, sneakily. He started to slowly trot over towards his scrumptious food (at least he hoped so). He performed a combat roll towards the rabbit. When he was about 2 metres away from his prey, he pounced and landed in the prickly holly bush.

Lesson Learnt

Soon the terrible fox appeared under a prickly holly bush. The fox had learnt his lesson to never go near or eat a rabbit again! So the fox started eating whortleberries and badgers.

If you see a fox lurking in the woods with purple lips then it's been eating a lot of whortleberries. If you go on this walk take a plastic bag and pick some mouth-watering whortleberries.
