Hazel's Tale - Chloe

Hello, my name is Chloe

The woodlands is a great place to tell a story so you have come to the right place. The great thing is that it is so easy, all you need to do is walk in the direction that the device says and then a chapter will pop up.

My story is about a fairy named Hazel who goes on a misadventure around the woodlands. There is a hidden message lurking within the story, see if you can figure out the message. Also there are a few pictures that relate to the walk, see if you can find where they have been taken.

You are probably urging to start the story, so go and enjoy.
Hope you have fun.

Chapter one

Chapter 1: Hazel

On the Quantocks, in Lady's Combe, there lived a beautiful, transparent winged fairy, named Hazel. Hazel was 35cm tall and she was 20 years old, she goes for walks in the mornings. Hazel was the type of fairy that gets on with things and nothing really bothers her. She doesn't like dogs or any big creatures, only Rabbit her friend.
Chapter two

Hazel lives in a twisted holly tree, with ivy entwined around it. She has tiny bark steps that lead up to her oak front door. There were only 10 small steps because her house was very low on the spiky, tall holly tree. The little fairy house was surrounded in bright, green feather moss.

Chapter 2:Meeting Rabbit

Hazel decided to go for a stroll down the sloped gully, so she put on her tiny beechnut hat, locked up her front door and started to skip. 2 minutes down the path she fell over in the slippery mud but this didn't bother her. She picked herself up, brushed herself down and carried on down the path. Further down the trail at the twisty and twiney, plaited and moss coated, oak tree, she met Rabbit. He had shiny white fur and a soft, bushy tail; she had big, sensitive, floppy ears which shot up when a sound could be heard.
“Hi Hazel, going for your morning walk?” spoke Rabbit, comfortably standing on all four legs. “I've collected some news for you.”
“Yes just going down the track. But what is the news?” asked Hazel, curiously looking up at the white, fluffy animal.
“Well, a big dog named Moss, a Lurtcher, will be coming by at 3:30pm so watch out for him and move that house of yours a bit higher,” commanded Rabbit, looming over the tiny creature (truthfully he felt sorry for poor Hazel). Hazel thought nothing of this and ignored Rabbit (She had been tricked by Rabbit before, although he was her friend).

Chapter 3:The Chase

Later on, when Hazel was admiring the bright, juicy star moss, she heard a distant woof. The fairy then looked at her tiny silver watch; it was 3:30pm just like Rabbit had said. Hazel realised that Rabbit had not lied to her, he had told the truth. She was not ready to be chased, so she speedily ran for her life. Running down the track she could hear the squelching of the mud as she slipped and skidded. Now she could hear the dog creeping up on her, she could hear the licking of lips behind her. Quickly remembering the dog's name she shouted:
“Moss, Moss fetch.” She threw a random stick to the side of her. Unfortunately, Moss didn't take any notice of the stick and carried on chasing Hazel down the track. She took a quick glance behind her and, ‘OH MY GOSH', the dog was colossal compared to the tiny fairy. Hazel was really scared because she was not as fast as the dog chasing behind her.

Chapter 4:What A Find

The more Hazel ran, the more she warmed up. Suddenly, Hazel sighed a big sigh. She had spotted a Helter Skelter tree (she could tell it was a Helter Skelter because of the hole at the bottom that led up and up to the top of the tree, known as a spiral growth). So Hazel turned left, scrambled into the hole and climbed up to the top, to where she found Rabbit. He was tossing curved acorns down onto the panting dog.
“This is my home, Rabbit now GO, go on, GO. They are my acorns you are wasting. Now leave them alone. I know you can hear me,” bellowed a tiny squirrel, standing behind Rabbit with his hands on his hips.
“I'm not going to survive the winter because of you. HELLO? Listen to me, this is important.”
Chapter seven

The squirrel trudged backwards towards the very edge of the tall Helter Skelter tree and then ran as fast as he could towards Rabbit. He lifted his leg and kicked rabbit on the leg and then he curled up his tiny, furry fist and punched rabbit on the back as hard as he could, which was really hard (from his point of view).
Rabbit didn't feel a thing because squirrel was so small. He could hear the squirrel's tiny little voice, but just ignored it and giggled, mischievously to himself.
“I will come and get you again. This is not over yet,” screamed the squirrel, stamping away to go and fetch his acorns, “Revenge will come back”.
Moss trotted back up the muddy track towards a voice calling Moss's name. As Hazel and Rabbit stared down from the Helter Skelter tree a tall figure walked by. She had long and beautiful, blond and plaited hair. She was holding Moss on a lead; he started to growl as he passed by the Helter Skelter tree.

Chapter 5:The New House

Hazel apologised to Rabbit and they both decided to build her house a bit higher on a different tree: so they carried on down the path to find a new tree for Hazel's new house. They found two tall, colourful holly trees, a female and a male (They could easily tell, because the female has red berries and the male doesn't). The trees were balancing on the edge of the gully, 2 metres apart from each other. Hazel decided that she wanted her house here, so both of them spent the rest of the day building Hazel's new house. That night Rabbit had a sleepover at Hazel's wooden house. Hazel thanked rabbit for warning her about Moss; she apologised for not listening to him and thanked him for helping her build her brand new house. Rabbit also said that he was sorry for telling a lie a few days back, which is why Hazel didn't listen to him. So it was both of them to blame for this misadventure
And that was the story of Hazel's tale!
