Horrified Hazel - Summer

Hello readers; my name is Summer and I am going to take you on a story-walk, that I have created. It is full of lovely pictures, linked to the story. It will roughly take half an hour to do the walk, well it depends how fast you are at walking and reading! You will stroll past some of the most beautiful and interesting places. I hope that by the end of the walk you will enjoy being in the woodlands more than you did before, anyway I must stop talking and you should get going!

Chapter one

A Kind Heart

Deep in the heart of the forest, lived a beautiful lios-alfar (light elf) female. Her name was Hazel. She wore a starling-skin jacket and a bendy bark skirt and was the size of a pencil sharpener! She lived in a magical place called Ladies-Combe, where trolls, dwarves' and all other kinds of creatures lived secretly.

Her blonde, silky hair would fly in the air as she rode her cream colored barn-owl, Ollie. She was a friendly girl, as every morning she would stop to check on Edmond, the ent, and Lavender and Daisy, the twin flower faeries. Lavender wore the most beautiful lilac dress and Daisy wore the coolest hair-style. Hazel really did live a happy life.

One Wednesday morning, when the sky was bright pink, as Hazel was talking to Edmond, in the corner of her left eye she spotted a skating rink [in her eyes], but to a human it was just a frozen puddle! She decided she wanted a go.

The Ice Rink

She carefully landed beside the skating rink and put her emerald green, handmade ice skates on. Hazel started to skate around little heaps of mud, but very quickly because if she slowed down there was a chance she could fall through the ice. She stopped for a minute and walked over to the oak tree, surrounded by star-moss, and picked herself and Ollie each a miniature piece of wood-sorrel.

The patch of wood-sorrel was half eaten (probably by her little brother Robin, as he had a tummy bug) and had a little bit of sap from the oak tree on it. She gently wiped it off with her sleeve. She didn't mind if her clothes were sticky because she knew that when she got home she would wash her clothes.

Ollie and Hazel ate the piece of wood-sorrel quite swiftly but could still taste the fresh apple-like flavour. They wiped their mouths so poshly with a napkin it looked as if they had a part in the royal family! Hazel put the napkin in her pocket, then continued to skate, as Ollie went to the land of dreams, in his sleep. Hazel desperately wanted more wood-sorrel but she had already eaten a handful and if she ate more the oxarlic acid would give her a poorly tummy.

Chapter five

The Big Fall

Suddenly Hazel saw a blurry figure walking towards her. Her fingers started to shake. With out knowing, Hazel had stopped to observe this mysterious creature. It wasn't long from then until she realised that it was the ghost of the old svart-alfar King, who had died many, many years ago. And this is how his life passed:

It was the day of the svart and lios-alfar battle, where each team has the chance to defeat the other. The svart-alfar (bad elf) king did not know the fight had started and a lios-alfar boy named Harry Hawk was creeping up behind the filthy ruler. He (the king) could sense the smell of little boy. He asked one of his servants, Ashley, to shoot the boy, but accidentally Ashley shot the king, luckily, it did not kill Harry. It was bad for the svarts but the lios-alfar were so happy they celebrated for a year!

The ghost was hovering to-wards Hazel. She was horrified. she was walking
back-wards trying to get away. Hazel had been standing for too long and then she slipped on the ice, fell on her bottom and 'crack', she had fallen through the thin ice into a pool of sticky brown mud! She blew her silver, lichen encrusted horn, hoping to get attention. Unfortunately it only made Ollie fly away, but that didn't mean he was frightened of the noise, he was going to find some help.

Finding Help

He flew over the tree-tops and under broken branches, was nearly there, but where could he be going? He rummaged through some star-moss and picked out a key shaped twig then ran over to the battered and broken wood-ant nest which had big holes in where people had been careless and had kicked it. He opened the top of it with the key.

Light appeared in a rainbow like way. Then Gaia (mother earth) arose from the nest and with her big feet she ran to save Hazel. She put her finger in the hole and picked Hazel up. She layed her out in the palm of her hand. "You're safe now" whispered Gaia softly.

Gaia's voice was so soft it reminded Hazel of a marsh-mellow! Gaia's skin was grass green and very veiny. Her hair, so wild and fluffy you could imagine it as a bed! Her lips were orchid pink. Although she had been alive forever she looked about twenty years old!

Hazel stared at the horizon it was beautiful. It looked like the perfect wallpaper for a nature lover.

Going Home

Gaia took Hazel home, by the two holly bushes. A tear ran down Gaia's cheek as Hazel walked into her ten centimetre house.

Hazel's house had a minute wishing-well on the right and a set of ladders made out of mushrooms leading up to her bedroom on the left. Her little bed was made out of: A piece of carved birch bark for the mattress (not very comfortable). An oak-leaf for a duvet and last but not least some moss for a pillow!

When Hazel noticed that Gaia was crying she ran up to her and gently hugged the lower part of her leg.
"Thank-you", Hazel said with a giggle of joy then returned to her dad.
Gaia smiled at her. Hazel liked Gaia, she reminded her of her mum who had died when Hazel was only six years old!

And from that day on, every other day, Hazel and Gaia would visit each other and have more adventures, and they're still having them now!
