The Sixth Marvellous Map of Mathematical Mystery

If you are holding the iPad please read this aloud to your group.

Dear Marvellous Magical Mathemagicians, May Many Months of Merriment be ours if we complete this task today!

We must work as a team to make our way through the Marvellous Map Of Mathematical Mystery.

We will need to read clearly to each other, so that we all understand the puzzles.
We will need to work together to solve the puzzles.
We will need to record our answers neatly
But most of all...
We must read the instructions carefully, so that we understand them!

Now we must do nothing until Mr. Wedderkopp gives us our next instructions.

Quietly change your seating positions so that you are in age order.
Put your hands face down on the table.
Say, all at the same time, "5, 4, 3, 2, 1, BOOM!"

Did you follow these instructions properly?

Chapter one

Instructions and Behaviour Expectations.

A map should have revealed itself on your screen. Take a moment as a group to look it over and understand it.

Send the second oldest person in your group to collect a map from Sandra.

Check that the maps are the same. If they are different, go back to Sandra and collect the correct map.

Your mission is to solve a series of problems and riddles. These will be revealed as you move around the Marvellous Map Of Mathematical Mystery.

Send the youngest member of your group to collect a decoder grid from Mrs. James.

When you have solved a puzzle you can use the decoder grid to collect a letter. Every correct answer can be found on the grid, and each of these answers is paired with a letter. For example an answer of 17 gives you the letter J. An answer of "circle" gives you the letter Z.

Take a moment as a group to look over the decoder grid and understand how it works.

The oldest person in your group should go to Mr.Wedderkopp for an answer sheet.

Once you have solved all ten puzzles you should have enough letters to form a ten letter Magical Mystery Word!

Whoever is holding the iPad should now pass it to someone else in the group and go to Sandra to collect a clipboard, blank A4 and a pencil.

Write your names on the top sheet of A4 and on your answer sheet.

If you wish to successfully complete this Marvellous Map Of Mathematical Mystery you will need to work as a team. Please rotate the iPad around the group, along with the decoder grid, map, and the notepad and pencil, so that each of you has a chance to use them all. Please move sensibly around the school grounds, stick together, and do not move out of sight of the adults. If in doubt - come back!

Now, if you're ready, as a team shout, "GERONIMO !!!!"

Please find Mrs. Norman and explain why you will be moving sensibly around the school grounds during this activity. She will give you further instructions.
